Wine ideas for Thanksgiving – Part I
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, you might be wondering what wines to pair with dinner. This post is Part I of a four-part series on what to serve on turkey day: Sparkling, White, Red, and dessert. All of the wines featured in our series are for sale in our web wine store: Topochines Vino Wine Store. For readers of our blog, wines are being offered at 15% off retail prices. To ensure that we can get the wines to you by Thanksgiving, all orders should be made no later than November 15.
Okay, let’s talk about pairing sparkling wines with some of the traditional foods that are served on turkey day. We recommend starting off with a sparkling wine that has no perceptible sweetness, although some of you might want to pour your sparkling wine throughout the meal. As far as we’re concerned, there’s nothing wrong with that! Here are a couple of wines to consider:
Griffin Dark Side Brut
This is the darkest sparkling wine we’ve ever seen, without exception. It comes from Croatia and is made from the rare Portuguiser grape. This is a very aromatic and flavorful brut sparkling wine and we think it will stand up beautifully to turkey, stuffing, or cranberry sauce.
Regular price: $33.00. Use discount code Turkey15 at checkout for 15% off.
Rarecat Cremant de Bordeaux
This delicious sparkling wine from France’s Bordeaux region is made 100% from Semillon grapes by Sharon Harris, a Napa Valley wine guru who also makes wine in Bordeaux and Champagne. Rarecat’s Cremant is produced according to the methode traditionelle with two fermentations, the second of which occurs in the bottle. Classified as Brut, this Cremant is crisp but balanced with plenty of fruit on the nose and the palate. This was our inaugural Cremant de Bordeaux and our takeaway is that it would be a perfect pairing with cheese or appetizers.
Regular price: $36.00. Use discount code Turkey15 at checkout for 15% off.
Griffin Sparkling Rose
This refreshing Rosé sparkling wine is made from the relatively obscure Portugiser grape, grown at elevations exceeding 1,300 feet in Croatia’s Plešivica wine region.
Regular price: $29.00. Use discount code Turkey15 at checkout for 15% off.
Stay tuned for Part II of this series where we will talk about our favorite white wines for Thanksgiving pairing.
